Longridge chooses Heidelberg package for total colour control

General commercial printer Longridge Print has signed with Heidelberg for a complete pre-press to press package that will give the company total colour control and fast, predictable printed results.

The Crowborough, East Sussex firm started out looking only for a new platesetter to replace an old Purup system, which was no longer made. "We were looking at Agfa and Fuji," said managing director Neil Long, "but thought there might be benefits from a whole package." Accordingly the company will take delivery of a B2 Speedmaster five-colour plus coater, a Suprasetter 75 platesetter, a Printready workflow and Heidelberg's JDF-enabled MIS system, Prinance.

Long described the productivity benefits: "With AxisControl spectrophotometry and pre-press to press closed-loop colour we will have a level of control we haven't had before. We can link the whole package up digitally to optimise production and management efficiency."
